GIG Showcases the Benefits of Gluten-free Certification for Natural Products at Expo East 2022

AUBURN, Wash. (September 22, 2022)—The Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG), one of the largest nonprofit gluten-free advocacy organizations, will be at Natural Products Expo East showcasing its Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO) program, a leading gluten-free certification program with more than 60,000 products certified worldwide. The tradeshow, being held September 28 – October 1 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, unites the leading producers and retail buyers of healthy, natural and organic products to share the latest products, trends and innovations in the food and consumer packaged goods industry.

In Booth 1504, GIG will share the benefits gluten-free natural products manufacturers are gaining by having products certified by GIG’s independent, third-party certification program, GFCO. Representatives of GIG and GFCO will share what is involved in certifying products and why GFCO is the most highly trusted mark recognized by gluten-free shoppers because of the stringent process required to obtain it. GFCO has earned and retained this reputation thanks to its world-class certification process that includes reviews of product ingredients, finished products, manufacturing practices, labeling and the facilities in which products are made.

Sharing the booth with GIG will be representatives of GIG Cares, an action-oriented organization working alongside GIG to combat hunger in the gluten-free community. Through its Cutting Costs program, GIG Cares has teamed with GFCO-certified brands to provide monthly care packages full of certified gluten-free products to those in need. The GIG Cares team will be on hand to share how companies and individuals can support their grass-roots efforts aimed at tackling food insecurity for those eating gluten-free.

The market for gluten-free products has grown substantially over the past decade; according to GIG research, nearly one in four adult shoppers in the U.S. avoid gluten and people in 7% of U.S. households follow a strict gluten-free diet. This rise in demand has encouraged food companies to develop more gluten-free products and to seek certification for these products to provide peace of mind for the consumer.
